"RED FLAGS" THAT IT'S PROBABLY A SCAM!

IF ANYONE ON THE PHONE OR INTERNET WANTS YOU TO PAY THEM THEN IT'S PROBABLY A SCAM!

Through the investigation of various scam reports the Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office has found the following actions to be indication of a scam.

IF...

the caller says they are from the government...it's a scam (the government will send a letter if they need to get in touch with you, they need a paper trail)

the caller says there is a serious problem or delinquency with an account and you need to pay over the phone...it's a scam

the caller says you have a federal, state or local warrant and will be arrested if you don't pay...it's a scam

the caller says you have won a prize or sweepstakes, but you have to pay a small fee to process your winnings...it's a scam

the caller tells you to buy a gift card and give them the PIN numbers...it's a scam

the caller pressures you to act immediately to avoid dire consequences...it's a scam

the caller says you need to keep it all secret...it's a scam

the caller tells you what to say if anyone asks questions...it's a scam

NEVER GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE OR EMAIL!
HANG UP AND CALL A TRUSTED FAMILY MEMBER OR FRIEND  BEFORE GIVING ANY $$!
OR CALL THIS OFFICE AT 913-682-5724 AND LET US KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING BEFORE GIVING ANY $$
